The Thunder Hoedown.
To be sung to the tune of “The Monitor and the Merrimac”. See this page for a reasonable rendition of the original song.
It’s dancing time again,
This hoedown we shall win
Despite the weather we shall dance a wonder-o!
No rain or flashing lights
Deters us from our rights;
The angels keep the time with mighty thunder-o!
What ever shall we do,
A storm is blowing through,
A storm-cloud’s not a good thing to be under-o;
The thunder rumbles down
And crumbles all the ground
And so we start to dance the tumbling thunder-o!
We’ll dance across the rubble
As lightly as a bubble
With a face like pirates going for the plunder-o
Then we’ll stagger like we’re stout
As our arms we flail about
And we’ll clap our hands each time we hear the thunder-o!
What ever shall we do,
A storm is blowing through,
A storm-cloud’s not a good thing to be under-o;
The thunder rumbles down
And crumbles all the ground
And so we start to dance the tumbling thunder-o!
But our dance, it won’t last long
For the lightning’s booming song
Will drift along it’s ever-rushing blunder-o
And as it fades away
Every dancer’s sure to say
It was mighty nice to dance around in thunder-o!
What ever shall we do,
A storm is blowing through,
A storm-cloud’s not a good thing to be under-o;
The thunder rumbles down
And crumbles all the ground
And so we start to dance the tumbling thunder-o!
