Friday Poem

Wildlife and death seen on a morning walk.

Untitled Poem

I saw a hawk when out this morn
Upon a roof, so proud, forlorn;
Its beauty and its might I saw,
With hunting screech like slate on claw.

I saw a doe when out today,
A being of grace (or so they say);
It looked a barrel on four stilts
And killed more plants than blights or wilts.

I saw a cat while on my walk
And saw how it a bird did stalk
And saw the bird pull out a worm
And watched the worm in protest squirm.

A hundred sights, each came and went;
Each beast upon destruction bent;
Each plant creating lots of shade
Lest other plants might it invade.

I saw on this, my morning stroll
A world of violence unroll,
For only parasites and mold
Live without causing deaths untold.
