Friday Poem

Laws of nature stop working when the boss isn’t paying attention.

Untitled Poem

At end of day when eyelids droop
And chatty friends have left the stoop,
When work is done and stories read
And children all are safe in bed—
Then is the time that faeries rise
And physics stops its exercise.
When you are muddled, cats wear clothes
And wardrobes speak and wiggle toes,
Large monsters stir in closets small
And gravity won’t make things fall.
But if your eyelids raise themselves
Or you are roused by seeing elves
Then all the frolicking will cease
And “‍normal‍” ways enforce the peace.
…Until, that is, you drift away
And magic can resume its play
