Hi, John! I got a 150 MHz 604 card for my PowerMac 7500, and here are some
preliminary STREAMs results for it:
-------------------------------------------------------------
This system uses 8 bytes per DOUBLE PRECISION word.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Array size = 2000000, Offset = 0
Total memory required = 45.8 MB.
Each test is run 10 times, but only
the *best* time for each is used.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Your clock granularity/precision appears to be 16666 microseconds.
Each test below will take on the order of 216666 microseconds.
(= 13 clock ticks)
Increase the size of the arrays if this shows that
you are not getting at least 20 clock ticks per test.
-------------------------------------------------------------
WARNING: The above is only a rough guideline.
For best results, please be sure you know the
precision of your system timer.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Function Rate (MB/s) RMS time Min time Max time
Assignment: 96.0000 0.3333 0.3333 0.3333
Scaling : 96.0000 0.3350 0.3333 0.3500
Summing : 106.6667 0.4601 0.4500 0.4667
SAXPYing : 106.6667 0.4567 0.4500 0.4667
This is a great deal faster than the 601/100. However, I call it
preliminary because, as you can see, there are not at least 20 clock ticks
per test. I don't have nearly enough memory to increase the array size so
that the test takes 20 ticks, so I need to work on getting a timing method
better than the 1/60th second system clock tick. I will try to do this
over Christmas vacation so you can get some solid numbers.
