Life is like a three-act play.
A poem inspired by Boyd K. Packer’s analogy of life as a three-act play and by Jill P. Baskin asking me if I had any poems about the post-mortal spirit world.
Act one, scene one: this may seem odd,
but we were spirits raised by God.
Scene two, the family feuded bad;
a third of them deserted Dad.
Scene three, we built a world—Earth—
and that scene closed with Adam’s birth.
Scene four I don’t know much about.
If any does, please shout it out.
Act two, scene one: this mortal life,
a jam-packed scene with love and strife.
Scene two is next, starts when we die
and lasts until all death says “bye.”
Act three is marvelous, I hear;
again with God, and naught to fear.
It might have scenes, I do not know:
this prophets haven’t deigned to show.
This life is like a three-act play.
Act two, scene one: act well today.
