Why is fantasy entertaining?

I like the way it makes me feel
to think of things that are not real,
  and wonder why it should be so:
  does fiction somehow help me grow?
Is it some aid to mind or soul
to read of magic’s mythic role
  that doing so should bring a glow?
  Why would what made me make me so?
